GUYS GUYS GUYS. NIGHTWING TWINS. they can always read each other's minds because they were the same dragon at some point. They can be identical or fraternal, I like fraternal more though, since that would mean both of them get to be both make and female. Gonna go with a cloudy full moon, so very minimal external mind reading except from each other. They will share all their senses of they want to a well. Feel free to steal this idea, I would especially love to see any at yall come up with.

This is a fresh design I’ve given the loveliest hybrid there is! Whiteout is by far my absolute favorite character in the series, and I had to spend some time giving her some love. I am a firm believer that Whiteouts canon design is already quite pretty, but I just love to add complexity as a treat. Much of the shape language I used for this are swirls- something about her is very swirly to me, and so I gave into the temptation to give her cloud/mist-like markings!
I had quite an interesting thought for the two white stars on her wings. One outshining the other, and intercepting its path. Darkstalker outshining Whiteout- wanting all of his mother’s love to himself, as he had thought during his hatching. Gaining powers while Whiteouts were still pushed deep within.
Love her so badly.

Horseshoe the SeaWing
Horseshoe is a six year old (about 16 in human years) SeaWing aristocrat. She lives with her father, niece, and brothers in a large home carved out of the side of the Deep Palace trench. She doesn't know it yet, but she's a transmasc paragirl.
When she was unhatched and her elder brother Calypso was six, their parents split up and their mother Seaglass fabricated a story about their father Softshell supporting Blaze in the war before running away with her dragonets. Two years later, after the Blaze thing was disproven and Softshell was released, a Scorpion Den assassin was hired to kill him and cancelled last-minute. Seaglass then abandoned her dragonets and disappeared, leaving Horseshoe with a deep fear of being abandoned once she was older. The dragonets were eventually found and returned to their father.
Horseshoe's pretty isolated. Most nobles avoid her family due to them being so closely related to ex-King Gill and/or the old scandal, and most commoners are too intimidated by their status, so Horseshoe never really had anyone to play with when she was younger. Calypso was off in the war, and her other siblings hadn't been adopted yet. Now, Horseshoe is naive, out-of-touch, and at times unintentionally inconsiderate.
When a pair of SeaWing hybrids with no knowledge of SeaWing society are sent to live near her to "reconnect with their heritage", Horseshoe immediately jumps at the opportunity to meet someone who doesn't care about status or old scandals.
She's bubbly, honest, kind, and means well. She's also very trusting, self-centered, and has no knowledge of lying to avoid hurting others' feelings. She despises wearing this much jewelry, and hates parties even more because her father forces even more necklaces and earrings and such on her. When her and her new friends run off, she pretty much instantly stops wearing it.

redesigning Six-claws!
I must've hallucinated someone requesting Six-claws, because I couldn't find it in my inbox by the time I was finished with this design! A little sad about breaking my streak of replying to asks instead of just throwing my redesigns out into the wind, but it's okay.
Here's my take on Six-claws! I had a great time doing this redesign, since the winglet books are actually some of my all-time favorites. I just love how charming the short stories are, and they honestly tend to be more concise than a few of the worse-written main arc books (No shade to Tui, writing is hard enough.)
I wanted to stay in line with the punk style I gave Thorn (+ eventually the other outclaws,) but I felt that it wasn't really sitting right on Six-claws, given his personality and background... he just doesn't really give me the vibe of someone who would spend hours on accessorizing, and view it as less productive than solving problems. Because of that, I tried to limit his accessories as much as I could - only keeping the outclaw tail band and a few neck/ear pieces.
As for his actual pattern, I tried to keep things simple with some spot/stripe patterns, keeping his color pallet relatively neutral and sandwing-ish since he's not meant to stand out all too much, outside of the talons.
This was a short post, but that's alright.. thank you all so much for checking up on this blog! My askbox is as open as ever, but please be sure to check up on my pinned post and see which characters are already in queue!

And while Moon and Carny are in the Sky Kingdom they see a pair of SkyWings doing this, and Carny explains it represents the partnership between lovers. Then later on CARNY AND MOON END UP CHASING EACHOTHER IN THE SKY PLAYING AND STUFF AND THEY END UP UPSIDE DOWN AND MOON TAKES CARNY'S TALON AND THEY DEATH SPIRAL AND THAT'S HOW THEY START DATING

I would love to see a scene in the prey center where the Jade Winglet is at their table, and Winter is fast asleep with his head down on the table, his wings and tail leaning lightly against whoever he's sitting by. Whoever the POV is sees, and pauses for a moment.
They think about how much he's changed- gone from a neglected IceWing prince who thought he'd never be allowed to be anything but his best, lonely, on guard at all times, to this completely unrecognizable creature; entirely comfortable with his surroundings and friends, smiling and laughing and joking about his skill in claw-to-claw combat. From staring at the wall, awake all night, feeling like he couldn't sleep an hour around just his one clawmate, to snoring quietly in the center of a room of twenty, his tail draped carelessly over Turtle's claws. The POV reaches over, and fixes Winter's crooked horn ring.
This does have to happen after book 14, because he hasn't gone back to the JMA yet
