My husband and I were kicked out of my homophobic/transphobia emotional and fianical abusive mother in Dec of 2018. We have been bouncing from unstable and unsuitable housing situation from to the next—-from crashing at m husband extremely transphobic and emotionally abusive grandmothers, to our terrible month’s stay at Aburn Place—-the conditions of which can be seen and explained in the pictures below.
This was our ‘home’ where we slept without a lockable door, proper blankets, access to showers, dormed next a violent domestic abusive couple which was triggering given both of my partner’s and I’s histories. The food provided was uneatable, served spoiled and frozen and resulted in multiple hostipalizations from food posioning.
After two turpentinous cycles we were finally considered eligible for the family voucher we are pursuing to obtain permanent and independent housing. Unforunately our new faculty is better but not by much—-we in a room meant for one period, with not enough space for all of clothes within the closet. There is only one communical bathroom despite stressing to numerous social workers at Aburn, AFIC about needing private bathroms as transgender individal and no kitchen on site. We are provided with a mini fridge that is 3 feet high and a foot deep but not allowed to have a hotplate. We are expected to just be beholden to food pantries or to buy food that can be cooked through mircowave. Obviously with no source of income or foodstamps we’d be back in the position we were at Aburn rationing a meal a day.
We are still in our pending status for public assistance ( foodstamps, medicard as Steph and I are both underneath our abusive family’s insurance that they have threaten to remove us from, child support ) despite extending the 45 day wait period because we made a total a 160 a month at the time of application—a mere 60 dollars over the 100 a month thresold ( but well below the poverty line ) for expeditied foodstamps which we desperately need. Despite updating our employement information to show that we are both unemployed we have no option but to close our public assistance case completely ( which can take up to 30 days ) before reapplying to get expetited food stamps. Given the government shutdown we anticipate an even longer wait time with our benefits.
As a result of these circumstances we opted to smuggle in a hotplate in order to cook food in our rooms as a measure to save money and eat more consistency—-as a result of our poor diets these past two months since being homeless I have lost a considerate amount of weight and have been consistently sick. While we have the hotplate we are able to cook granted on small gratel but our hotplate can be confiscated at any time and we will have no stable source of food. Food is our paramount concern, we are very hungry all of the time

As a condition of the shelter, we are currently saying we must save 60% precent of our income to go towards our future apartment. Unfortunately neither my husband or I working nor capable given our degrading mental healths. We are currently trying to connect to the appropriate mental health providers but at the moment in limbo with our insurances and lack of money. Since we have no income we have no way to work towards our saving 2 months ( an estimation of a $2,600 ) in order to recieve our voucher and move out of the shelter.
At the moment our only income has been donations on my husband Steph’s donation which have unfortunately slowed to a near halt and my sporadic survival sex work. I had been employed at a seasonal position but was terminated due to having to miss a number of days due to our mandatory public assistance appointments—despite informing my previous employer about my homelessness. I’m looking for part-time work I can manage while attending school full time but doubt I’d have mental capacity to juggle the two. Been having numerous nervous breakdowns due to the stress of the situation and struggling with severe suicidal idealisation but can’t afford to be hospitalized without losing our bed in the shelter.
We are in the process of advocating for an administrative transfer to a facility with a kitchen, private bathroom and on-site mental health services but a process such as this could take weeks to months. As of the moment we exist in limbo in increasing dire circumstances.
Adding insult to our number of issues due to an error with Venmo I was put into overdraft when trying to pay my husband and I’s phone bills—our phones being our lifeline ( keeping track of our mandatory appointments we can’t miss without risk of being kicked out of our current shelter, ie. access to the HRA app, communication with our social worker, and most importantly internet since we are primarily beholden to data use.
I got in contact with Venmo about the issue but it’s up in the air whether or not I’ll be reimbursed for their issue. Even still am responsible for the 70 dollar overdraft fee I have no means of paying.

Despite these obstacles I am finally registered to take classes in the spring term. I’m currently enrolled full time taking on 5 courses for a total of 14 credits.
I’m taking these courses in order to maintain my HEOP scholarship which is tentative at the moment. I’ve been experiencing complications with my fianical aid despite noting that I am homeless unemployed youth my school is saying that I owe 2,584.45 dollars.
Since kicked out of childhood home by my abusive mother I have no longer depend on her support in paying for my student loans. Additionally, I have loans from my previous school which I’m transferring from not a position to pay. I’m in the process of seeing if I can apply for deferment of these loans to postpone paying till after graduation now that I’m homeless as well as enrolled full time at a local community college.
Given all of this, it would mean the world if you were help. I’ve been applying to jobs every day and trying my best as head of household but without a stable address and less stable mental health, it has been difficult. Any donation helps, and if not in a possible to give monetarily just reblog this so this can get as much exposure as possible. I deeply want to continue school and crave out a life better for myself and my husband—-and trying to do all of this with zero family support.

Please Help Me Beat Cancer
Hi, my name is Darcy. Back in March 2018, I was diagnosed with Stage 3A lung cancer. They almost immediately started chemo and radiation therapy. It appeared to shrink the tumour at first. With the shrinkage of the tumour, I qualified for immunotherapy, which is only in the trial stages in Canada.
Here’s where everything went downhill. About 2 months ago, my liver levels went out of control. They (the doctors) found out that the immunotherapy was causing my liver to fail. It’s called autoimmune hepatitis. I am the only one in the study to have this side effect.
About a week ago, I went for a full body MRI and it revealed that I have 11 tumours on my brain. The next day, they started radiation to treat what’s on the brain and prevent it from spreading even further. They are ordering a PET scan to see where else the cancer may have spread. I have been told to prepare for the worst but hope that a miracle happens. My oncologist and I refuse to give up, even though my chances are slim.
Our family is really struggling to get by as I have not yet been accepted to disability and my wife is unable to work due to a car accident we both were in. She received a settlement but whatever we get goes to our rent ($1,350/month as it is hard to find anything cheaper in Toronto in a decent neighbourhood), our phone and cable bill, food, hydro and parking.
Because of my recent diagnosis of brain cancer, they will be revoking my license soon. This means we will be forced to take taxis to and from the cancer centre every weekday. This comes in at a cost of $30 per trip. So if any of you could dig deep and spare a dollar or so, we would be forever grateful.

Arinaitwe Gerald, an Batwa indigenous organizer I talk to regularly who lives in southwestern Uganda, is currently having trouble providing for orphaned children he and his wife have taken in in addition to their own children after their mother passed away a bit over a month ago.
One of the children, a 12 year old girl named Immaculate, is in serious pain due to having a cyst caused by goiter. She had been recommended for surgery all the way back in October, but because $700 is nowhere near an amount her late mother or Gerald and his wife can afford, she has still not gotten the treatment she needs and they are even having difficulty getting the $85 needed for an injection that would potentially help decrease the pain and size of the cyst temporarily.
Please spread this fundraiser and donate if possible! Immaculate and her siblings, as well as the Batwa people at large need all the help they can get, and no 12 year old should have to go through all that she is currently dealing with.

So to make a repeating pattern:
1. Open a canvas and draw in the center WITHOUT touching any of the edges.
2. [Below: Light cyan lines] Divide your canvas into four equal parts.
Make four guides framing the canvas, and two across the middle.
For the ones in the middle, View > New Guide > Horizontal or Vertical for needed orientation > type in 50% to get the exact middle of your canvas. These are photoshop shortcuts, may be different on your programs.
3. [Above: Yellow arrows] Make sureyou have ‘Snap’ checked under View > Snap, then select each quarter of your piece > layer via cut > move diagonally to the other side.
After you’re done moving things diagonally, you can either turn off Snap so your doodling won’t stick to the center lines, or toggle the guide visibility off (Ctrl+;). Merge the layers back together.
4. Draw in the middle without touching the borders, color the entire thing if you plan on doing that.
5. Setting your image as a pattern After your image is done, merge all layers into one > select the entire canvas (Ctrl+A) > Edit > Define Pattern
Open a new canvas bigger than the one you made the pattern on, and paint bucket it in! (Instead of the Foreground button at the top when paint bucket is active, select Pattern then your pattern)
If you aren’t using a program that lets you define patterns, merge everything into one layer and duplicate & tile them manually.

Help out a disabled Native American woman?
Hi! Sorry about this post, but my mom needs help paying bills and getting groceries. My mother is a disabled anishanaabe-metis woman and faced a very stressful situation a little before Christmas that may throw her entire life into disarray.
Long story short, her boyfriend, and her main caretaker, has been hit by a car a few days before Christmas and sustained a very very terrible brain injury. He may not recover from this, and may have to leave my mom to live in her apartment alone.
She had to go into her bill money to pay his rent and bills for him, and is going to need to dip into her grocery money a great amount as well.
The stress of this situation is starting to hit her, and is causing her great anxiety. I can offer her my time to help her talk things out, but as I have recently lost my job and am only on welfare, I am not in a situation to help her financially.
So I ask for any spare money you may have, even $5 would be appreciated. I want to ease her financial stress the best we can. If someone can raise $1000 in a day for something meaningless, I’m sure we can at least get her an extra $100, or even more, for her to pay off her bills and get groceries.
TL;DR – Disabled Native American woman needs to pay her bills and buy groceries and doesn’t have the money to do so right now.

An underwater landslide caused by the eruption of Anak Krakatau spawned a tsunami that as of today (Dec. 24) has killed 373 people. This already on top of other earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, and the Sulawesi Tsunami. Millions have been displaced, thousands dead, and many more still missing. As Anak Krakatau is an actively erupting volcano, it could still generate more waves, hampering rescue efforts and displacing more people.

Many of those affected were owners of tourist driven industries, and will now be unable to earn money this holiday season as their property and businesses have been destroyed. People have their only source of income, their beloved family, and friends..

i’ve just had probably the worst year of my life. in march, i was injured by stray bullets (5 to be exact) that entered my bedroom during a gang related dispute. then i was homeless during the summer, and spent way too much time in an anti-gay homeless shelter. i was hurt at my job and had to leave, my mom attempted suicide, my little sister was assaulted by her dad and violated by her dad’s girlfriend…..basically just awful.
my mom was hospitalized diagnosed with bipolar disorder with psychotic symptoms. she’d never sought any treatment and somehow no one noticed. she will be discharged likely on monday, and will return to our shared apartment. but, her living with us is not a good idea at all. her worst symptoms resulted in abuse and neglect throughout my childhood up until now.
i am seeking help to move me and my sister into our own apartment, where we will be safe from both our mom and her dad. Living with my mom has been toxic in the extreme. i have been taking care of my sister for the larger part of this year, and right now i’m the only person she has. my mom has been unstable for a long time, and while my sister’s dad shows up to play the part to ensure that we keep custody, he otherwise doesn’t want anything to do with my sis and has told me that he will not be responsible for her. i truly think that the best place for me and my sister is living with me, separate from both of them, at least until our mom stabilizes. my priority is my sister, and she truly thrives when both of her parents are out of the picture.
i’m eyeing a studio apartment for $450, and I have roughly enough income to qualify for the apartment, with some luck. Interesting. I've literally only used search for the past three years; may have to check out tags once I access a pc.
As you may have heard tumblr recently ‘killed the links’, making it so that any post that has any link on it (even if it links to tumblr posts or tags) will not show up in the /search/ function.
Well, I’ve got some GOOD NEWS for you. The /tagged/ function still works just fine. The bad news is the tumblr mobile app ONLY uses the /search/ function. The GOOD NEWS is the /tagged/ function has always displayed 33% more content than the /search/ function. Yup, you heard that right. If you were only using the mobile app, you were already missing out on TONS of content.
TAGGED VS SEARCH
/tagged/ function = tumblr.com/tagged/tag name
This is what most people refer to by ‘looking in the tag’. It only populates posts that have the tag name within the first 5 tags. If you’re posting alot, it will oftentimes only show your last 3 posts in a given tag to prevent you from spamming it. It’s very accurate.
/search/ function = tumblr.com/search/word
This searches all words in a given post, including the first 20 tags and the entire text of the post itself. The mobile app only uses the /search/ function and is missing 33% of what is available in the /tagged/ function. So if you only use the mobile app, you are literally missing 1/3 of what the fandom is posting. This is why I only use the more accurate /tagged/ function. Unfortunately, this is also referred to as ‘looking in the tag’ when it is not actually looking in the tag but ‘looking in the word search’.
I’ve actually avoided the /search/ function for years because of these problems. I only use the /tagged/ function but it is a bit harder to use on a mobile browser which is why I only look in the tags using my desktop computer. At least now you can still FIND all the content you might have missed.
This is literally the most heart warming story I have read on Twitter so far. I think this is exactly what friends should do, and I feel everyone deserves people like this.

they’re calling it the camp fire. over 20,000 residents have been evacuated so far, the last area estimates i heard were over an hour ago at 18,000 acres and its still zero percent contained.
this is the smoke from about 18 miles away from the fire three hours ago. if you know anyone near chico, paradise, oroville or durham california you might want to check they’re okay
