His life partner Skeppy is a prank vlogger, and their son Sapnap is an shooter game player who got famous for melting his entire setup with fire breath live on stream after getting too mad about a bug that cost him a match.

Eret is a queer cosplayer who also happens to be a member of a royal family and a major diplomat. His community tab is like “Sorry I didn’t upload this week v-v I had to renegotiate a trade agreement and that took a lot out of me! Whew! ^-^” Tommy also does music mixing streams and chill sewing videos. Tubbo is doing “mechanics ASMR” where he silently makes clockwork and electrical devices. His enderman husband Ranboo does family vlogs but never shows pictures of Michael or Tubbo or himself, just their hands and Michael’s hooves and voice. No one knows they’re married except for the people who recognize Tubbo’s hands.

Sam is a engineering professor whose uploads range from cute videos of his dogs to hour long video essays on industrial manufacturing. Ponk collects shoes. Technoblade is the only Minecraft YouTuber. He’s also a piglin brute who needs a custom gaming setup for his massive hooves. Foolish is still posting Tiktok thirst traps.

This is canon now.

 Hey, to you sci-fi/fantasy writers out there (and maybe some others, but this is mainly for things that can’t really be researched irl), if you want to write a character who is a driven, passionate expert on something, don’t write about them rambling indifferently about some boring, mundane part of it. Give them a deep, intense hatred of some oddly specific wow-I-did-not-even-know-that-was-a-thing-and-it-would-have-never-occurred-to-me-that-it’s-a-bad-thing thing they’ll gladly rant about.

 Write a dragon rider who really fucking hates it when a dragon is trained to bow while being reined. A space ship engineer who is pissed off when perfectly good antimatter ship has been adapted to run on neutral matter. A historian who is still not over the massive failures of a general who lost a specific battle 300 years before she was born.

 The guy currently giving us a series of lectures on the restoration of historical buildings really, really hates polymer paint. At the artisan school our stained glass teacher really hated this one specific Belgian artist - we never really figured out what did that guy even do, but he’s been dead for over 200 years and our teacher was glad that at least he’s dead.

 Experts don’t just know things you’ve never thought about. They’ve got strong opinions about it.

TAKING A CLOSER LOOK AT THE JEDI ORDER IN STAR WARS CANON, PART II [A Meta/Reference Guide on AO3] aka, SO WHAT DO THE JEDI SAY AND DO IN THE ACTUAL CANON? This is the second part in my series of Jedi Culture and Teachings in Canon, which was originally meant to be a much smaller project, but then The High Republic came out and suddenly I can barely keep up with all the new lore!  Which means that this is part 2 of what will probably (I hope) be a four part series, given a rough estimate, just hopefully not two years between now and the next one.  orz One of the biggest motivations I’ve had is to compare how the High Republic books seem to be working to be pretty true to George Lucas’ philosophies and visions of both Star Wars and the Jedi, so there’s a mix of canon sources citations and George Lucas commentary, separated out into eras so that you can get a feel for each one.  While there are some minor differences between the High Republic Jedi Order and the prequels Jedi Order, I’ve found that they’re by and large basically the same exact people with the same exact culture and same exact beliefs and actions, and a huge part of this project was getting to lay a lot of that out! The guide is broken down into seven sections as before: SECTION 1 - HOW THE FORCE WORKS SECTION 2 - JEDI CULTURE & PHILOSOPHY & TEACHINGS SECTION 3 - JEDI AS A PEOPLE SECTION 4 - PSYCHIC SPACE WIZARDS DOING PSYCHIC SPACE WIZARD THINGS SECTION 5 - JEDI TEMPLES SECTION 6 - JEDI AND THE BIGGER GALAXY SECTION 7 - JEDI, BUDDHISM, AND EVERYTHING ELSE Hopefully, this guide will be useful to those who are looking to use it to write fic or just want to see a nerdy project!  None of this is meant as any kind of value judgement on Legends or people who aren’t interested in this stuff or don’t like the Jedi, instead it’s a guide to a) the bigger themes of the Jedi in the source material and b) a list of references if you want to check out the source material yourself, which I always heartily recommend!  That and an attempt to organize my reference and meta tags because they’re definitely a mess. 😂
