you’d always tell her not to. tell her she shouldn’t buy you the new shoes. tell her she shouldn’t spend the extra money on the hotel. tell her she shouldn’t pay for all your ubers when she couldn’t pick you up. but there was no point in arguing with her, not on this matter at least. she could buy you so much stuff.
“you’re spending too much on me.” you gasped at the massive bouquet of flowers accompanied with the dress you’d tried on when you’d been shopping the other day. she’d gone back to buy it without telling you.
“i’m gonna hang up if you start with that bullshit again.” she said through the phone. you’d called her as soon as you’d walked through the door of your apartment, faced with this display of her affection. it was her love language, gift giving.
“billie.” you’d said in a warning tone, almost scolding her.
“need my girlfriend to look pretty in that dress when she accompanies me to dinner tonight.” you were smiling ear to ear, she was so ridiculously cute.
“dinner?” you couldn’t get enough of her antics. she was constantly spoiling you rotten. and you were forever grateful, you’d never take it for granted, not even for a minute.
“mhm.” she chirped. her voice conveying the fact dinner wasn’t an option, it was mandatory.
“you spoil me, billie.” she laughed at this, but understood the gratitude in your statement.
“make sure you wear something pretty underneath that dress, it’ll be the only thank you i need.” your cheeks flushed as she spoke. your mind flooded with images of what would go down after dinner, however cursing yourself for thinking about it before it got you too bothered.
“only if you wear something equally as pretty underneath your jeans.” you could hear a small chuckle from the other end of the phone, an undertone of surprise.
“deal.”
