Okay I've been doing some math (shocking I know)
In this scenario, let's assume that Scylla is about the size of a giant squid
They can swim up to 25 mph
The Straits of Messina (Scylla's dwelling) and modern-day Ithaca (Homer's doesn't actually exist) are 7,409 km (or 4,064 miles) apart
If, for whatever reason, Scylla were to swim from the Straits of Messina to Ithaca...
it would take her 184.16 hours, which is 7.66667 days
So the bottom line:
If Scylla were the size of a giant squid, it would take her a week to swim from the Straits of Messina to Ithaca without stopping.
I am... not well.
