I just watched Alien : Romulus in theatres, and I think Fede Alvarez now owes me therapy.

Without getting into spoiler territory-

Alien Romulus is fantastic. A wonderful homage to each film in the series, while somehow also managing to change things up and remain fresh. (Well, a lot of that freshness comes from how it takes certain ideas from the past and improves upon them)

My only real critque is the reuse of a few lines from previous films (seriously, just write your own dialogue) one of which got an eye roll out of me.

All in all, I really loved this film

(Fede Alvarez should direct a Doom movie)

Guys I just had a dream that Kay and Rain from Alien: Romulus actually were lesbians and for sure had a kiss scene. I did not realize I was so invested in them…

Favorite part is definitely the callback to "You Are My Lucky Star". It was genius of them to put the original tune in there. Really affective too!

Had to see Alien right before it went out of theaters for the second time in a week :)

An even bigger screen. Might have cried at the end.

•𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲• di Fede Alvarez (2016)

Tre ladri decidono di entrare in casa di un veterano di guerra non vedente, che ha ereditato una grossa somma di denaro, in seguito alla morte dell'amata figlia. Ma le cose non andranno come avevano previsto i tre ragazzi.

Fede Alvarez, già nel 2013 mi aveva piacevolmente sorpresa con il remake de 'La Casa' e qualche anno dopo ecco ripresentarsi con "Man in the dark" riconfermandosi un validissimo regista.

Un film che coinvolge e incolla allo schermo già dopo pochi minuti, grazie alla crescente tensione creata dal protagonista ( interpretato dal bravissimo Stephen Lang) che ci regala un'interpretazione davvero inquietante, ma anche il resto del cast funziona alla grande. A tratti, durante la visione mi è venuta in mente 'La casa nera' di Craven, forse perché girato interamente in casa, con assenza totale di qualsiasi effetto speciale o forse per la presenza dello spaventoso rottweiler che fino alla fine darà filo da torcere ai ladri.

All'inizio si proverà empatia per quest'uomo che deve convivere con il grande dolore per la perdita della figlia e si ritroverà con questi tre intrusi in casa che vogliono derubarlo. Ma se inizialmente il nostro protagonista apparirà ai nostri occhi indifeso, durante il film ci accorgeremo che l'ex marine nasconde un terribile segreto.
