Was anyone else waiting for alt Viktor to show up in episode 7 to help Ekko and them with their problem. I mean based on what we know Jayce might be dead, having killed himself cause he couldn't do his science, like he was going to do before Viktor stopped him. And even if Jayce is dead that still leaves Viktor. He wasn't even mentioned by Heimerdinger, like wouldn't you want help from one of the guys who created the thing even if it is just in an alternate version to help you. I guess maybe they didn't want people to know they were from a different reality but still. Viktor is still a very smart guy like hextech wouldn't even have come as far as it did without him. He had just as much as a role as Jayce did so why not call him up, unless cause something happened to him.
somewhere, there exists a memory of that fateful day
//
i somehow managed to delete the entire thing during the lineart phase, but worry not because i redrew him in his shining glory from scratch
Arcane 9/11 be like: "MR COUNCILOR, THEY HIT THE HEXAGON"
Is no one going to talk about how the shattered glass looks like Vanders teeth!? Is this a foreshadow of her ‘death’!?
Even though I felt it was kinda rushed,
I still loved this season.
The thing is that Jayce succeeds. He was right.
He was able to create magic. His idea was revolutionary. He was able to harness the arcane and fuse it with scientific principles to create amazing things. Somewhere along the way he reached his life's goal of giving magic to the world, and he still had so much more left to offer. He had the praise and the accolades and the funding and his face on the goddamn mugs.
And it wasn't enough. Not where it mattered most. Not for who it mattered most.
(Do you think Jayce felt sick, cleaning the dirt and blood from his pristine white coat, waiting? Do you think the memories kept it off, despite the chill in the lab air, with him only re-donning his Man of Progress suit when Viktor leaves for good? Do you think upon his return from the anomaly that he cradles his old mug — the one Viktor bought for him as a joke — suddenly and fiercely glad for his grown out hair and beard because he is not that man anymore. He hasn't been for a long time. Maybe he never really was.
Not that it matters. He has a promise to keep.)
Actually it's so important to me that everyone knows that Viktor's "Evolution has a destination" thing IS SUCH BULLSHIT
Evolution doesn't know what it's doing!! It's not trying to go anywhere!! It's pretty much how well you can FUCK!!!!!
Viktor ik you're a stem diva but PLEASE stay in your engineering lane
SICK from thinking about the symbolism of the rune.
Which rune Viktor gives baby Jayce is the only thing we see as a catalyst for change across timelines — it's the butterfly flapping its wings.
The rune switches hands only twice more after that:
Viktor giving it back to Jayce, representing the start of their partnership concerning Hextech,
and Jayce giving it to Viktor in the astral plane, helping him put an end to the arcane apocalypse.
But there's one more important similarity about these moments — they're moments when Viktor and Jayce save each other.
Mage Viktor saves Ximena and baby Jayce, then gives him the rune.
Viktor stops Jayce's attempt, then hands him back his bracelet.
Jayce stops Viktor from losing his humanity, taking the rune from his wrist and together, they use it to save the world.
The rune isn't just about possibilities. It's a representation of their lives.
And they only ever put it in each other's hands.
Viktor baby get behind me, people who’ve never seriously had to reckon with their own mortality or what it really means to live in constant, high-level pain for the rest of their life keep trying to create takes on you
(this is not an endorsement of the whole Herald eugenics thing, but if I keep seeing garbage analysis about Viktor and the Hexcore (before he died the first time) I will take notes from Jayce and start bashing things with a hammer)
If Mel and Jayce had a little more time to talk…
Aftermath:
Damn can’t believe cosmic yaoi got me to draw for the first time in a year.
(Inspired by @sucredemar’s post about Jayce’s revenge dress fit)
Viktor’s stance on Hextech weaponry is so important, actually.
Viktor is the only one vehemently against using Hextech to create weapons. Jayce initially agrees, but Mel convinces him that it is necessary, that it would keep more people safe than it would hurt.
Viktor stands firm in his insistence to not do harm with their creation, not just because he is from the Undercity and familiar with the violence Enforcers inflict on innocents, but because he himself is a victim of constant violence. From his body. Viktor is the only character near the council that is so intimately aware of what it is like to be in pain, and they want him to agree to create weapons.
Viktor, whose lungs were wrecked by the Grey so badly that his blueprints are often stained with red. Viktor, who works hunched over a desk, tuning out the aching signals from his leg, his back, his arms, his everything. Viktor, who is in a private war against time, against the consequences of previous Piltover innovations, against his own body.
Viktor never wanted to be a part of anything that would make anyone feel what he feels. And they wanted him to put ultra-powered guns in the hands that were strangling the place he desperately wanted to help.
Over his dead body would a weapon be powered by Hextech.
(Over his dying body, more like. Jayce should have listened.)
