Rebels In The Night

Feels like your life is over. Feels like all hope is gone. You kiss it all away. Maybe, maybe- This is a second coming. This is a call to arms! Your finest hour won't be Wasted, wasted! Hey, hey! Hell is what you make, make! Rise against your fate, fate! Nothing's gonna keep you down! Even if it's killing you! Because you know the truth! Listen up, listen up; There's a devil in the church! Got a bullet in the chamber, And this is gonna hurt! Let it out, let it out! You can scream and you can shout! Keep your secrets in the shadows and you'll be sorry!

(There comes a time you've gotta face it, face it)

It's Time To Take Some Action Boys!

It's time to take some action boys!

Through the mist, through the woods,

Through the darkness and the shadows-

It's a nightmare, but it's one exciting ride!

Say a prayer, then we're there-

At the drawbridge of a castle.

And there's something truly terrible inside!

It's a beast, he's got fangs, razor sharp ones-

Massive paws, killer claws for the feast!

Hear him roar, see him foam!

But we're not coming home

'Til he's dead!

Good and dead!

Kill the beast!

-

Hearts ablaze, banners high!

We go marching into battle!

Unafraid, although the danger's just increased!

Raise the flag, sing the song!

Here we come, we're 50 strong!

And 50 Frenchmen can't be wrong!

Let's kill the Beast!

Kill the beast, kill the beast!

Please Come In Time With Me! And We Will See! The Beginning To Be!

Please come in time with me! And we will see! The beginning to be!

They fought, a very long time ago. Before, they were comrades. Before that, friends. And, even before that, in the longest time ago.... Maybe, just maybe, when it was just them-

Was it love? They were never sure.

I Expect You To Die

I Expect You To Die

You must think you're so clever. I promise you, agent, Can't escape me forever! We're playing a game- You take from me, I take from you. But every game ends, And when this one is through-!

That voice in your ear, They've no chance to save you. A mere puppeteer- They only enslave you! You're a piece on a board! I bet with my wealth, my armies, and dreams; Your every success unveils still greater schemes. A lake full of acid, a drill from the sky- If you try to fight me, we'll watch your hopes die! Lasers and saw blades with sharks on standby! You're right where I want you! And this is goodbye!

(The best of the best, You'll die like the rest)

Young, Rebellion Era Hitchcock! He’s Still Boisterous And Kind, But Not Gone Like He Is Later In Life.

young, rebellion era Hitchcock! He’s still boisterous and kind, but not gone like he is later in life. He has an anger in him he doesn’t remember later in life, and rushes into decisions. Like the eventual decision to confront Boss Ubris. He is not ready for the massive loss of life he will face....

He has the wherewithal to style his hair into a braid instead of throwing it into a ponytail like he does later in life. No beard either. And, his hair has not gone white yet! Still bright red. And, he actually has pierced ears! But he doesn’t really remember this later.

Stopped Time

Stopped Time

A squared display That remembers when! That leads the way To live in “Then”! (But why live it again?) Those children- The men-! Mm, never again! Is it to change, Bend, Shift the way things were? To turn the mystery To a history you prefer? To take it back? The film to black? The shot to blur? Or-?

Who cares what happened after?

A Small Sketch To Test Out A Concept.

A small sketch to test out a concept.

Hitchcock has a small.... issue with blood. He's not.... scared of it, necessarily. It’s just.... any time he sees it-

Their screams fill the air. (Who's? And why-) His troops beg for mercy. (His? He's never.... Has he? A long forgotten mission maybe?) Ubris shows no mercy (Ubris? He's never liked Ubris. He never could place why. Well-) Ubris's face shows no emotion. (Sometimes something pricks at his mind.) Their blood colors Ubris's cloak a different color. (This very scene sometimes.) Please please please just let it stop- (He never remembers that the memory passed by until it passes again) Ubris coldly tells Hitchcock it's over (What's over? What is he forgetting?) So long as he never tries this again- (Tries what? What had he done?) He could live. (Why is he crying- living is good!)

The blood is dry and caked into him by the time he forgets. Did he spill food coloring? Odd. He doesn't remember. He should clean up.

I’m A Shadow Of Myself

I’m A Shadow Of Myself

This sickness I'm afflicted with Has got my brain decaying

I know my God has damned me. My fate remains unmolded! Guess it runs in the family. My sense of self; corroded!

My blackened blood is boilin', I feel my fear no more. The scent of dead flesh spoilin', Have I become a corpse? - Now, you know the price, Gotta pay it now! If you have a life, Time to lay it down! Heed not the voice of reason, It only tells you lies! Obey your sins and demons Then see through evil's eyes!

I think Hitchcock might have some rebellion in his past too.... :3c

Hitchcock Alcock Clockmaker

Hitchcock Alcock Clockmaker

Species: Arglywydd Amser

Gender: Demimale (They/He)

Sexuality: Panromantic Pansexual

Height: 6ft

Voice Claim: ?

At the beginning of everything, there were but deities arranging everything for the coming mortals. Boss, the deity of time, found that the job of making sure time stayed linear within their own timelines a terribly overwhelming task. In order to help, Boss experimented with creating a helper species. Agents who could correct anything that needed fixing while Boss kept an eye on time itself.

The first creation, after many a test, was Hitchcock.

Hitchcock has been around since before almost any other being. They have seen societies rise and fall, the creation of new creatures and their extinction, and have gained the admiration and praise of every other arglwydd amser in existence - despite none knowing their true history.

Being the first creation of Boss, at the time still going by Ubris, made for Hitchcock to see the deity do some.... terrible things. Things that didn't need to be done in the name of a fate that wasn't necessary. Terrible things to Boss's own creations, even letting Hitchcock's fellow arglwydd amsers die - forever lost to time. It didn't help that Hitchcock saw that seeing into time as a burden to many of the others arglwydd amsers, and many wished they weren't created as this.

Hitchcock couldn't take it and created a rebellion, gathering the few arglwydd amsers who were around at the time in his ranks. They planned to confront Ubris, and even end the deity if Ubris wouldn't listen to reason.

They planned and trained and were cocky. They weren't ready. All of the arglwydd amsers were slaughtered by Ubris..... Except Hitchcock.

Ubris didn't want to kill the first creation Ubris ever made. Ubris promised to let Hitchcock live. So long as Hitchcock never tried anything like this again. And never told any future arglwydd amsers what happened. The event would become a mere myth. Hitchcock, fearful for their life and horrified at seeing this all.... Accepted.

Hitchcock grew bitter, watching Ubris, now called Boss, create overly loyal arglwydd amsers. Watched Boss try to give the new arglwydd amsers freedoms that the early ones didn't have. Hitchcock took that bitterness and created a cafe. A restaurant within the time stream (what arglwydd amsers use to travel throughout time) that could be a sanctuary for the arglwydd amsers. A place for them to relax, vent, and socialize. Hitchcock couldn't rebel anymore, but they could help their fellow arglwydd amsers the best they could.

It helped that, over time, being alive so long gave Hitchcock an ability no other arglwydd amser had. See, any arglwydd amser can foresee into timelines. But, this power is limited. They cannot see events they are involved in, and are more likely to see events that are more likely to happen. Hitchcock, however, can see it all. They create predictions that, even if they do not come true, still have the echos and impressions of what could have been around. Because of this, many come to Hitchcock's bar in order to gain insight into their own future. As, it's not something they can see themselves. Hitchcock is a bit tired of having to do this, but is oblivious to it.

In fact, Hitchcock is oblivious to a lot of things now a days. Being around so long has deteriorated his mind. And, Hitchcock isn't really.... all there anymore. He's chipper, upbeat, friendly. If he does remember what happened during the rebellion, which is rare and actually brings out the old Hitchcock, he forgets it very quickly and goes back to being kind old Hitchcock. Hitchcock can be serious and comforting to those who are down, offering a sympathetic ear. But, it doesn't hurt his heart as it did when the rebellion was reliably in his mind.

A few tidbits:

Hitchcock's eyes glow when they are predicting something.

Their hair used to be red.

Like all Arglwydd Amsers, Hitchcock is intersex

Gwendolyn hangs out at Hitchcock's diner a lot. They consider each other great friends. Gwendolyn is one of the few who doesn't ask Hitchcock to predict for him

Hitchcock's predictions tend to be vague

Hitchcock has a thing about blood. It isn't a phobia necessarily. But, looking at it.... Reminds him of something.

Only Boss and Gwendolyn know of Hitchcock's rebellious past. Gwendolyn found out on accident, and feels terrible that the Hitchcock that rebelled is lost to madness. And Boss.... Boss isn't allowed in the bar. Hitchcock gets very upset when he sees Boss. Though, he can never explain why, forgetting his anger very quickly.

Hitchcock is not exempt from the rule of not foreseeing events that involve himself. However, he doesn't really leave his bar very often, living in the upstairs part of the bar. If he were to meet someone fate wanted him to be with.... He wouldn't be able to see into that person's future. Which would fascinate him to no end, cause he's used to seeing the future.

Hitchcock really likes milkshakes, It's common for him to offer guests a milkshake if they're down.

For the People, By the People - Dreary Day Movies List

image

Even as I type these words, a bizarre, out of season thunderstorm is rolling across the city of Chicago. The second one in three days in fact after it thunder-sleeted all day Sunday. And we’re not alone. All across the country the weather has been bleak. Ranging from unbearably cold temperatures to heavy, freezing rains the weather has been anything but nice, trapping many of us inside our homes, into sweatpants, and under blankets.

Despite how terrible it is out doors, days like these are the best to snuggle up and light a few candles and watch some great movies. So today I took to social media to poll my friends on their favorite Dreary Day Movies. What I got in response was a wonderful list of some truly great movies that I have compiled into this handy list. May it bring you many happy returns on rainy days present and yet to come.

1.       About a Boy – Ah, London, you greyest of grey beauties. This movie just languishes in melancholy, but has some great tender moments and ends with your heart swelling like a balloon. Also great use of “Killing me Softly”.

2.       Death Proof – One of two Tarantino’s on the list. Grindhouse, visually stimulating, dark, lots of reasons to bury yourself under a blanket, beers or hard, brown liquors recommended.

3.       Ever After – I wouldn’t have included this on my own, but wow was I happy to see it suggested. A “true fairytale” story, Drew Barrymore is surprisingly great in it as Cinderella. This movie is beautiful and you will probably cry.

4.       The Family Stone – You will definitely cry. But it’s also very good. How could you not include a movie in which the cast wears sweaters 90% of the time? But seriously though, be prepared for some deeply emotional scenes.

5.       Grosse Point Blank – A good old black comedy. Who doesn’t love john Cusack? Seriously, who? Name me one person. And a reminder of how much you love Minnie driver and always forget that you do.

6.       Harry Potter Any and All – These are the movies that will match whatever grey weather you’re experiencing. Lots of mist and rain and snow and darkness, but also magic and intrigue and adventures! A great thing to marathon so you can spend as much time on your couch as possible.

7.       High Fidelity – America’s treasure John Cusack is back again! As he recounts his breakups, he will break your heart, and rebuild it, and break it again all to a truly magnificent soundtrack.

8.       Hocus Pocus – Yes this movie. Yes. Yes. Yes. One of the all time greats. Best saved for one of those chilly October nights, but still good any time of year.

9.       Inglourious Basterds –Two of two Tarantino’s. Great performances from Brad Pitt and Christoph Waltz. It has that dark Tarantino humor and beauty with the added bonus of being a period piece.

10.   Lars and the Real Girl – Did you really think we’d make it through this list without a film starring Ryan Gosling? Did you think I wouldn’t come through for you? The Gos could make absolutely any day better, but Lars brings a Minnesotan sensibility and quirk with just the right amount of heart. Hot coco a must with this one.

11.   Lord of the Rings Trilogy Any and All – The best movies to marathon ever. I just watched The Two Towers on Sunday and was it ever the right choice! So epic, so fun, so insanely beautiful, and so obscenely long that you will lose function of your legs by the time you need to change the disc to the next movie.

12.   Love, Actually – This is another selection that will absolutely destroy you, emotionally speaking. You will be so sad and also so happy; you won’t know what to do with yourself.

13.   Pride and Prejudice – The Brits are really making a showing on this list. Possibly because of their notoriously grey weather. This movie is one that will whisk you away to another time and place where things like dances really matter.

14.   Sex and the City – Included because this was strictly movies and not TV shows, this movie will get the job done when you want to be whisked away to a land called Manhattan where a columnist makes enough money to buy crazy and beautiful clothes.

15.   Sin City – Rain. So much rain in this graphic masterpiece. Get lost in this highly stylized black, white, and grayscale world.

16.   Singing in the Rain – Make yourself feel good from the inside out watching the best dance musical ever made. Yeah. I said it. Yeah. It’s true. Gene Kelly gives a MASTER CLASS at tap dancing and being so charming you want to DIE. One of my favorite movies ever. Perfect for rainy days without even the slightest hint of irony with it’s name.

17.   Tangled – You might’ve skipped this movie when it was in theaters and even when it was on Netflix Instant for a good while, and if you did, you missed out. A classic Disney princess in some ways, but she totally kicks butt. Also would you believe me that the funniest character in this whole thing is a horse? Because it is.

18.   True Grit – The Coen Brothers at their finest. All star performances from Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, and wee Hailee Steinfeld. The music is perfect for the kind of day we’re talking about.

19.   Umbrellas of Cherbourg – Listen to yourself audibly sigh as this classic movie musical whisks you away to France in another time and almost another world completely saturated in color. Catherine Deneuve is beauty, charm, and charisma incarnate.

20.   Vertigo – It’s one of the best movies ever made, and it happens to be a great rainy day movie. It’s San Francisco in the 60’s and Kim Novak’s eyebrows are utter perfection. Jimmy Stewart and Hitchcock are as good as they get in this. A great mystery thriller to round out the list.

Thanks to all of you who submitted and helped make this delightful list for your most drab days!!! Let’s all be proud of ourselves for bettering the human experience of coziness today.
