Hey, hot take, but if a company decides they no longer want to distribute a piece of media they own the rights to, then they should be legally required to sign the rights back over to the creator.
They shouldn't be allowed to just sit on the IP for the rest of time, especially if they have no intention of ever releasing it again.
rewatching the apothecary diaries and it's one of the best series i've ever watched. maomao is so captivating as a main character. her knowledge and skills allow her to help people, even though she says time and time again she wants to lay low. she doesn't want to get involved, yet puts herself in harm's way to solve the problem. jinshi is so interesting as a character. he puts on a persona and hides his true nature so he doesn't have to get involved with the palace politics, yet he has moments where the TRUE jinshi is shown. he has so much at stake, so much responsibility, yet with maomao he's able to forget all of it and be himself. the mysteries, the writing, the tension, the secrets, all of these things make the series so amazing. the plot is so incredible, jinshi and maomao are amazing characters, and their relationship is so beautifully written. every aspect of the apothecary diaries is incredible.
i love this scene so much!! jinshi jealous because maomao didn’t ask him for a favor is so adorable and sweet. by now, maomao has worked almost a year at the rear palace alongside jinshi. he sees how talented she is & cares deeply for her. so, when maomao relies on lihaku and even jokes about spending the night with him, it BREAKS jinshi. he’s so dramatic and silly but it’s a reminder that he’s a young man who’s experiencing a crush for the first time. she doesn’t realize how much of a hold she has on jinshi & it makes their interactions that much better. i love jinmao so much!

Mao Mao 3rd Anniversary Video Submissions + Rules
PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION
Hello, everyone!
May 20th is around the corner once more, and we want to surprise Parker and crew with an appreciation video! For those who don't know, the show was announced to the public as being greenlit on May 20th, 2019. This would make it its 3rd anniversary.
The rules are similar to last year;
We will only be accepting videos that are no longer than 15 seconds. These videos can be a recording of yourself, OR if you do not wish to reveal your face/voice, you can create a small gif/animation with or without your voiceover. The video can either be you thanking Parker and the crew for creating Mao Mao or for all their hard work, or about how much you enjoy or miss the show. Any kind of positive message is accepted! As long as it stays within the 15 second mark. They can also be as short as 2-3 seconds. Please do NOT ask any questions regarding season 2 during your recording, this collaboration is only focused on giving thanks to the crew.
We wish to create a video compilation of many fans thanking and saying positive feedback to the Mao Mao crew, something for them to remember that even during this kind of hiatus, we are still here and excited for the future!
Once you finish your video, PLEASE send it to either my Tumblr or Instagram DMs. That way, I can save the videos and place them into a Google drive. Do NOT post them anywhere until the video is completed and released. 💕
We wish to keep this a secret from Parker, so it will not be posted about on Twitter yet, HOWEVER, please do spread word privately to others who you think would love to join! This is a chance to show your appreciation to the crew for all they've done for us ❤

I've been attempting to get access to HBO Max outside of America. Using a VPN with a proxy gets me onto the website, but in order to even begin a free trial the site wants your card information, and it doesn't accept payments from banks not established in the US.
I'm thinking it might be possible if you have an American acquaintance who can lend you their card information or even their HBO Max account, but I'm not certain. It's not an option for me in any case, as I don't know anyone in America, but maybe someone else can give it a shot?
I'm not an anti-piracy advocate, but I know that there are plenty of people who would much rather stream content legally, if for no other reason than in order to support their favourite shows. Just tossing this out there. Anyone got any ideas?
and were being fed the story in a “How I Met Your Mother” format meaning certain events lead to the ending, and the story is either being told to us by Mao or Adorabat or even Shin Mao!!!!. I thought of Shin Mao telling us the story just as I was typing this.
I actually thought of all this while walking to work listening to the 10hr video of the opening song, because why not.

Maybe i should watch the anime after all?
It’s incredibly important to me that the anime decided to include this scene that wasn’t in the manga. In the manga, Maomao does pass out in Jinshi’s lap after saving him from what was obviously an assassination attempt.
HOWEVER, the manga cuts off at this point, keeping strictly in Maomao’s perspective, and cuts straight to when she regains consciousness in bed after being treated for her injuries. The manga doesn’t show how she got back. They SAY how, and she briefly mentions, “wow that must have been embarrassing; he carried me back,” but we don’t SEE it. We don’t get to feel the true impact of what that means. But the anime DID show us, and holy shit.
They SHOW us how taboo this is. They show Jinshi carrying her out of the temple, after a public attempt on his life.
They show us the shock and horror on Lakan’s face as Jinshi silently walks past him. Horror at the state his daughter is in, horror at another man—a man with a status he could never dare to question—staking such a public claim over his child, horror at the fact that he could never have this level of closeness with her (as Maomao would never allow it).
Everyone hides their gazes, as is their custom when someone of his rank passes by, but the air is different this time. Jinshi is furious, he’s terrified, and he could not give a single shit about how inappropriate it looks to these palace officials.
The shot that slowly follows her trail of blood—even though it’s a small detail—that in particular leaves such a intense impression of how poignant this is for him.
Maomao talked about this scene in the manga like it was nothing to her. She did what she set out to do: she saved the person who was targeted by the attack. She didn’t even know the target would be someone she knew. But she has no idea that this happened afterwards as a result of her bravery. To her, it likely wasn’t even an act of bravery at all. She acted on impulse; she did what she knew was the right thing to do.
The anime didn’t need to include this, because the manga didn’t show it. But damn, I’m so glad they did.

The only real difference between Puss and boots and Mao Mao, ASIDE FROM THE LACK OF BOOTSIES, is that Puss in Boots is more Spanish than Japanese.

She’s easily influenced by her surroundings, and seeing her try to stay upright in an increasingly gray world would be cool

Obvious fatherly relationship to Pinocchio is obvious
His arc does seem to concern how he can balance his natural cowardice with the desire to activley protect Adorabat
This is as far as I got with him, msotly becuase we don’t know much about him. He’s been apart of this show for one episode.
