Shadow Trails
This is just a random fic idea where just Alastor and Husk switch roles in Hazbin Hotel. It's taken over half of my brain. (I'm still gonna update A World Without Him). (Also, it's almost all Alastor centric)

*Before the hotel*
The dark red surface of the Pride Ring is almost completely silent, which isn't unusual this time of year. Only the occasional demons' screams and feet splashing against puddles could be heard through the vacant roads.
Yellow acid rain relentlessly pangs down onto the pavement that travels through the city. Roaring thunder can occasionally be heard through the pounding rain.
All shops are closed, with no light or movement coming from inside. Even the brothels are shut down for the night in preparation for what the morning after tomorrow will bring.
An out-of-place golden clock tower is right in the middle of this city. Second by second, the clock counts down. Just as the 24-hour mark hits, the clock lets out 4 clangs from the bell nestled at the top.
The acid rain seems to fall harder and faster after the bell chimes finished. It seems to never end as it incinerates any small vermin still running around the drunken streets.
The stacked and bunched-together buildings stand tall, though, seeming undisturbed by the new onslaught of downpour.
This is probably why no one noticed the clouds that started to unnaturally swirl. When they darkened into voids that sucked in the redish lights from below.
When the acid turned a toxic green from those transformed clouds, that acid which could easily eat through sinners bone.
The wind picked up, swirling the green into a funnel-like shape, with the clouds of void following suit quickly.
A bolt of black lightning suddenly struck through all the drops of colored acid at once through the center, evaporating the perfect shape and the void fell down in drops from the clouds.
A big swarm of green is all that was left of the incident, slowly dissapating until all that was left was the blob of void and a crumpled body at the middle of the strike site.
The void slinked into the beings shadow before anything else. Then the body writhed in pain as it stumbled to its feet. Black soot covered its clothes and head, as it coughed up more black, then took a breathe, before finally standing straight.
"Where-" The being stopped talking as it's voice came out with major feedback. It tried to cover its ears, but realized they were... further up than they were supposed to be?
It suddenly looked at what it was wearing. Black dress shoes, brown slacks, a black belt, dark brown undershirt, some black framed glasses, and a brown overcoat to match the slacks. Yet everything seemed worse for wear.
The left sleeve of the coat was completely torn off, seemingly in a violent fashion, with the right shoulder having been torn through both layers. The slacks were no better. The right had a torn patch near his lower thigh, and the right had a big hole on the outside of his calf. His glasses were shattered in both lenses.
It huffed in annoyance. Couldn't this place have transported it into something at least a little more decent?
It finally looked at the shining clock tower in the distance, seeing it slowly counting down to... something it didn't know.
It had a bad feeling.

The neon lights were blinding to anyone who stared for too long, with many arrows and signs pointing to store entrances.
These small establishments are trying to get the demons attention among all the other bright and colorful lights on Betters Way.
At the end of the road lies the biggest of all the buildings. At least 13 stories high, with all the lights shining even brighter than the others before it.
Cards symbols and gambling chips mark the exterior design, with some being part of the neon light all over the front of the building.
At the top is where the owner stays and works. Who is now currently on some of the lower floors because of his secretary's whining.
He'd been doing a routine check of the tables, seeing if any souls wanted to gamble with the King of Cards himself, when he saw sinners betting around a lobby TV.
He went to check and make sure people weren't loitering when he saw what was on. The Princess of Hell fighting Katie Killjoy, the reporter, on 666 News. Which was weird because all his TVs were supposed to play in the lobby were ads.
The demons in front of the TV had started to make bets on who would win the scuffle, yelling at the TV and starting to make a ruckus.
He sighed before intervening. "Well what do we have here, gents?" He spoke behind them, spooking some to turn away from the frankly loud fight.
Some started to berate him for interrupting while others ignored his presence completely. Damn, had it really been that long since he'd been out in public that no one recognized him? He needed to up his game.
In the end, he riled the sinners up a bit, let them dig their own graves before offering a 'simple' bet, while after he got a few more extra souls to his overlord name.
Not that he would force them to do anything. That privilege was for special cases. He can only hold so many cards in one deck at a time.
But that fight on the TV did intrigue him. What happened for the "sprinkles and rainbows" Princess to go ham on that she-devil? He remembers some subtitles about a hotel. Did the princess start one?
He decided to leave those thoughts for later as he went back up to his office. He did need to get his name out again. Maybe he could pay a visit to that hotel sometime, see if it's a good investment.

Extra info that I didn't write down:
He wasn't born a Shape shifter but he was young when he became one. He was born and raised in France but a little before high school his parents split up and he moved to the state's with his father. That's when he was forced into science experiments and eventually given the "power" of a shape shifter. Halfway through high school he moved back to France with his mother, he befriended Maud again and has been safe since.
He wasn't aware of Francoeur until after the event of the movie and since then he's playfully flirting with the Flea man, never advancing further because surprising or not. Bon actually sucks at romance, but he does stay loyal and only flirts with Francoeur [even tho the poor thing doesn't quite understand flirting]
Relationships:
Francoeur-love interest [Francoeur sees Bon as a playful man, he enjoys the time they spend together and would do anything for the little man. Although Franc doesn't quite understand the indications behind a lot of what Bon says to him but he does know he enjoys the warm feeling in his heart when Bon is around. On the other hand Bon knows he has a massive crush on Francoeur, he knows it's weird but he likes how cute but sweet Franc is, Bon doesn't intended on asking Franc to date partly because Franc doesn't seem to fully know what dating is and also because Bon is terrified of the commitment. He loves Franc but he's happy with only flirting with him, he doesn't need to be in a relationship with him to show he loves and cares for the flea man]
Maud-childhood friends [they annoy each other most of the time. Bon used to not have many friends and even became more suspicious of people after coming back to France but Maud helps him through any issues. They understand each other even tho they are different]
Emile-is actually good friends [at first he didn't trust him since he worried that Emile would hurt Mauds heart but once he got to know him, Bon knew Emile was the perfect guy for his best friend]
Lucille-he's a huge fan while she's suspicious of him [Lucille doesn't quite trust that Bon will be kind to Francoeur and treat the flea man right. Bon however doesn't mind that she doesn't trust him since he can understand, he's still a fan of her singing and always will be]
Raoul-chaotic duo [they are great friends! Good friends in fact Bon will support any and all of Raouls weird or stupid ideas. They have accident created havoc on MANY occasions so the gang calls them the chaotic duo]
Madame Carlotta-Bon is scared of her while she sees him as a big sweetheart [Bon isn't sure why he's scared of her but each time she pops out of nowhere he jumps and almost have a heart attack. She's actually quite fond of Bon, in fact she's Captain of the "get Franc and Bon together" fan club]

The mess with Venus-Lucifer
You know, with Venus in mythologies, some kind of mess is always happening. Sometimes it is a symbol of light and love, sometimes it is a symbol of war with a rather contradictory character. For the ancient Greeks and Romans, the Morning Star is the son of the goddess of dawn (Greek) Eos - (Roman) Aurora. He is described as an incredible handsome man who can compete in this with the local goddesses of beauty (Venus-Aphrodite). And in principle, he is a rather positive character there, heralding the beginning of the day. He was not among the main gods, no one made temples for him, but in poetry and just in everyday life he was often addressed. Okay, that is, we have a positive, light-bearing near-deity. Why is there also a Hesperus-Noctifer (Evening Star or Nightbringer)? Because Venus is visible well before dawn and at sunset, and the ancients thought that these were two different "stars", and when they realized that this was not the case, it was too late and they decided to simply leave them separately as convenient metaphors for the poetry.
Now let's turn to the biblical "Lucifer", because this is where it gets really interesting. This name appears in the Bible exactly once in the Latin translation, in a passage where the author mocks the Babylonian king who has fallen from grace.
“How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon."
So, first: in the Hebrew it says "Helel ben Shahar", that is, the Shining son of Shahar. Wait, what Shahar, you ask? And Shahar was the Canaanite-Ugaritic god of the morning. It is unknown whether this god had a son, and whether his name was Helel, I have not found any evidence, but maybe you will be able to figure it out. But there was a god Attar (the male version of the goddess Ishtar), who was also the personification of the planet Venus, and just had a rather ambiguous reputation as almost a god of war. On the one hand, his epithet was the word "terrible", and on the other hand, he was worshiped as a god-protector in some cities.
In general, Ugaritic mythology almost entirely refers to the Old Testament. There was a supreme god El, who created everyone and everything. El gave birth to lesser gods - they were called Elohim, children of El. (Yes, later they started calling angels Elohim). So there were a lot of Elohim, but we are only interested in a couple - Baal, Yahweh and Attar. There are a lot of things to think about, but as far as I understand, Baal was the local analogue of Zeus and ruled the other gods (Elohim), because El himself (the creator of the universe) preferred not to do anything special and dumped everything on his son. So Attar somehow sat on Baal's throne, but Baal returned and threw him down. This is according to one version, according to another - El himself offered him to become the supreme god after Baal's death, but the throne was too big for him, and he eventually went to the underworld himself and began to live there. Doesn't remind you of anyone at all, does it?) By the way, Attar's symbols were a bull and an antelope, so he was depicted with horns.
There is one interesting feature in the ancient Eastern pantheons, all the Elohim were not universal, but were folk gods, they patronized only one chosen nation, and fought against the rest. I mentioned Yahweh earlier, and Yahweh is the biblical god we are familiar with, whose cult appeared before Christianity and at some point he also became part of the Elohim. Over time, his cult became so popular that he absorbed the qualities of both Baal and El, as a result of which he was proclaimed the creator of the universe. But initially, Yahweh was the god of the Jews and only the Jews, and did not patronize other peoples. Remember the line from the Bible, where they said about "Lucifer": "I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon." So, in Ugaritic mythology, Zaphon is the mountain on which the supreme gods lived, that the analogue of Olympus. At first it was Baal's, but then he was replaced by the previously mentioned Yahweh. In the Bible, this mountain seems to be called Sinai (the place where God gave Moses the commandments).
So what happens: the God of the planet Venus tries to get the throne of the supreme god Baal-Yahweh, but in the end he goes into the darkness to rule there. Well, a pure biblical story about Lucifer as a fallen angel.
It is just not clear why these people did not like the planet Venus. Well, it shines and shines, so what? The thing is that ancient people REALLY loved to watch the sky. Really really. And they saw that before dawn a bright "star" appears in the sky, and they were like: damn, what does this mean? Then there was a sunrise, which blocked the glow of Venus and people were like: Hmm… The sun always defeats this star, Venus can only bring light in the darkness. But unlike the Greco-Romans with their positive Lucifer-Phosphorus, the ancient Eastern tradition interpreted this negatively, like: Ha, Venus, how dare you want to become the sun!
Well, here's your "devil". Now you roughly understand where it all comes from. And I look at all this and think: wait, so a huge number of people now live based on a rather chaotic mythological fan fiction of one of the ancient Eastern peoples? In short, I advise you to also check all this, google it, maybe you'll also find something interesting.
