trying not to think about the fact shanks was probably abandoned because his father only needed one heir, and it was shamrock, so shanks wasn't worth raising. trying not to think about the impact this might have on shanks once he knows. trying not to think about how buggy has always felt sidelined, like roger's "second choice", an afterthought, while he saw shanks as the "favorite kid", always praised, always celebrated, oblivious to the fact shanks was once the second choice too. trying not to think about how, once again, shanks and buggy mirror each other perfectly, but it still didn't stop their relationship from shattering

Yeah and i hate people saying he "fumbled" buggy like buggy wasn't already a little shit and left before even giving Shanks a chance. I get Buggy's motivations but you gotta remember Shanks also have motivations, and ones that seem to be infinitely more important and self sacrificial than Buggy feeling inferior.

I know everyone is enamoured with the clean Shanks but it means that everyone's making fanfic of him instead of Shanks and saying how cool Shamrock is and how they like him better and noo stoppp Shanks is the og. His greasiness is his charm not a fault don't fall for evil baby just because he looks cool. People like toxic men too much and i don't because i have a sensitive maiden's heart
