Of All Things, I Became...
You always imagined that if you woke up in the world of Genshin, the possibilities of being a Visionless wielder of elements and a slew of romantic shenanigans would lie in your wake. But when you instead find yourself in the body of a Genshin mob with romance likely out of the question, your only conclusion is that the gods of reincarnation isekai hate your guts.
cw. you lost the isekai 50/50 and became a genshin mob
pairing. genshin x reader
notes. i read [of all things, i became a crow] and decided to run with it. i apologize for nothing. i might add more species from genshin depending on my mood lol. this was originally only going to be about an aranara!reader but... i got inspired
Of All Things, I Became...
... an Aranara
... an Oceanid
... a Geovishap
... a Thunder Manifestation
... an Anemo Slime
So you died and woke up as a Genshin mob. At least you got some cool powers out of it, I guess. Results may vary in trying to get a travel companion out of it though. Not all non-human races in Genshin are created equally, you come to learn.
My Body is Mine Once More
Aranara Edition
Oceanid Edition
Geovishap Edition
Thunder Manifestation Edition
Anemo Slime Edition
After ingesting an elemental crystal, you manage to get your body back! More or less. Not everything about you has returned to normal and if you ever get too emotional, you turn back into your mob form. At the very least, you still are able to use your sick ass powers, so that's a bonus!

— xiao;
it was a good day in liyue. the sun was warm but not too hot to burn and the skies were a clear blue with no signs of rain coming anytime soon.
it was a rare opportunity so you decided to take a stroll in the forest.
after a few hours of berry picking, you stopped for a quick rest by the roots of a big and archaic tree.
unbeknownst to you, there was a certain slime floating right over your head.
and while you didn’t notice the foreign presence, someone else did.
you shrieked as xiao plunged right beside you, eyes dripping with strength and malice.
while diluc wanted to kill the slime, xiao wanted to decimate it.
he wasted no time and ran after the slime who bounced away in panic.
‘you almost died. twice.’ was all that ran in your head.
that is until the slime whimpered, effectively attacking your soft heart.
with a hesitant smile, you mumbled his name and xiao turns his attention to you.
were you hurt? did you need anything? should he race back to wangshu inn?
no, it was worse than that.
you wanted to keep… a slime? xiao briefly wondered if he accidentally hit you in the head or something.
good luck convincing him.
i’m not entirely sure how you’ll manage to do that because xiao was looking at you very strangely.
“come on, please? i’ll ignore the fact that you were practically stalking me when we agreed that you wouldn’t do that.”
“…”
it was a silence worth an hour at the very least. just as you were about to give up, xiao sighed and turned around.
“…tsk. you mortals and your odd behaviors.”
so now you have a slime child!
all was good in paradise.
…except xiao did not like the idea of playing daddy.
he would glare at the slime and prod at it when you mentioned some out-of-the-ordinary thing it did.
and god forbid you spend more time with the slime than with him. he just might snap.
like that one time you were gushing over the slime because it cuddled into you out of nowhere.
he waited until you left to get a drink before he stared at the slime. after a while, he reached out to tentatively pinch it which prompted an odd (in his opinion) sound from it.
it was like a more durable jelly and it’s very, very strange. it’s a little cold though and for some reason, playing around with it felt satisfying.
not like xiao would admit to it. he heard you climbing up the stairs and immediately withdrew his hands much to the slime’s complaints.
after that encounter, you notice the slime’s inclination to xiao.
like that one moment when you were fixing yourself a snack and when you turned around, it was gone. you intended to ask xiao for help but instead, you found the slime next to xiao just purring at him with puppy eyes despite the adeptus’ pointed attempts to ignore its presence.
one time, xiao was out and about, exorcising grudges and demons and all that fancy stuff.
in the middle of the fight, he spots the slime in the corner making heart eyes at him.
the way his heart dropped—
he swiftly finishes the one he’s battling and speeds to reach the slime.
he grips it very unceremoniously but you can excuse his attitude because he’s literally in the middle of a battle that could end with the both of them dead.
so now, there’s xiao battling cursed subjects with one hand because the other is too occupied carrying the slime.
after a while, he got enough room to breathe and he places the slime up on a tree.
“stay,” he says firmly as he pointed a finger at the slime. it was as if he was a father scolding a child.
in a way he was. trace amounts of disbelief and disappointment were in his tone but he wasn’t angry.
he cleans up the rest of his enemies as quickly as possible and he brings the slime back to you.
you promptly began scolding it and the slime had the audacity to whine.
meanwhile, xiao was just crossing his arms in the background, watching the scene unfold.
even he had to admit that it was pretty cute.
later that night, you asked xiao to bring it along with him sometimes so it wouldn’t have to sneak around.
xiao surprisingly agreed.
since they’re around each other more often now, the slime slowly began carving itself a spot in his heart.
little taps of affection, not quite close to petting, just fingers lingering long enough for three quick pats.
sometimes, you’ll be on your way back to wangshu inn and you’ll spot them side by side, waiting for you.
even rarer, you’ll wake up around midnight to see both the slime and xiao missing but the soft sound of a flute being blown calms you down.
he’ll never confess to it but if anything happens to the slime, he’ll go out on his way to exterminate whoever did it.
it doesn’t matter if it’s a shrub or a treasure hoarder. they’re done for.
to sum it up, a very protective dad who pretends he doesn’t care but is always keeping an eye on it. 10/10

synopsis: aether is crowned prince of the abyss. before that, he had you.
pairing: abyss prince!aether x gn!reader, mutual feelings
genre: idk what you call this. 12am angst brainrot?
notes: i woke up from like three minutes of sleep and chose abyss prince aether. i have class in six hours, but i also have priorities
limbs aching from running, clawing their way through the falling city that was once so glorious. the sky of blue and white had now turned crimson red with the black smoke of fires burning in the distance. and among it all is you, standing on a fallen pillar with a fire starting at your feet. aether is briefly reminded of how witches of other worlds were burned at stake for the sins people accused them off. magic is nothing foreign to these lands, but aether thinks that if he were to accuse you of a crime; it’d be taking his heart.
lumine would laugh at him, in a way his sister always would when she realised he had a crush. leaving your poor twin sister alone so soon? in the back of his head, he whispers an apology to her. how he would have loved to die after seeing those flowers in her hair, the wild smile on her face while they sparred or even just feel her hand in his as they jumped to another world.
he’s sure she would have loved you.
she would have loved you, even as you looked around the chaos with a bright grin. loved you for loving her brother, for staying by his side when she couldn’t. she would have loved you, if only not for the fact that you’re dying and neither you nor aether know when you will return.
the flames on the pillar have grown, devouring your lower half slowly. even then, you don’t flinch. aether wonders how many times you’ve done this, whether or not it’s easier than falling asleep for you. he hopes it is. if you ever felt a prick of pain, he would kill the damn god that cursed you, and then everyone else.
“aether.”
he drops to a knee at your call, the scraped skin meeting burnt grass. he does not wince or blink, wanting to keep this image of you in his mind. aether doesn’t know how many generations will pass till the gods give you back to him.
“your highness.”
“there’s no need for such formalities, especially coming from my darling prince.” you laugh, like a songbird on a spring morning. aether will miss the sound of it, “time is almost up.”
“yes.” his voice wavers, and your smile becomes sad. verbal confrontation was never something between you both. the truth was told with blades, the violent dance in the battlefield. your coming death had never been discussed explicitly, even now. oh, how aether wishes you could die by his hands instead.
“you know what you are to do, correct?”
“of course,” aether says, firm and determined. he had made his decision long ago, and sacrifices were to be made.
you were the first.
you smile at him, proud and sad at the same time. aether wonders if he reminds you of yourself from long ago. i will not let you lose your love again, he thinks when you offer him a hand through the flames. he takes it, wishing he could pull you out of the flames that glow golden once your hands meet. never again.
“at this moment, i hereby renounce my title as monarch of the abyss. let what is left of us hear my last order; that aether will take my place as your prince, now and forevermore.”
and with that, the flames begin to burn even hotter. but aether stays, ignoring the look of surprise and questioning on your face as he hooks his pinky with yours.
“500 years,” he whispers, almost desperate as the golden flames sear his skin, “500 years is all i’ll give you to come back to me. that is an order.”
it’s the first and only chance he has to demand something of you, now that he is the prince and you are dying. despite the flames eating you alive, you smile at him once again, bittersweet in a way your love has always been. aether wishes he could kiss you.
“anything for you.”
and with those three words, you’re gone. aether stands in front of the charred pillar, breathing out a sigh. the world continues to burn around him, but he simply stares at the place you once stood. the gods wouldn’t even leave your ashes, he thought bitterly.
he doesn’t, or just can’t, dwell on it. aether kneels before the pillar one last time, head hung low, before he stands up and leaves to search for what is left of the army you gave him.
it will be a long 500 years.
