C!dreams diet is not nutrionally sufficient. He has no source of vitamin A or B12. Whilst the latter cause extreme fatigue, the former cause vision problems, especially in low light conditions. He wouldn’t notice it in pandoras vault, not with the ever present lava, but afterwards he is so much more vulnerable. The night is an even bigger threat, and he carries a light source on him at all times.
C!dream learns to fear the night, the shadows, the unknown.
I love the fact the so many people on tumblr go out of their way to help people with hearing impairments, it really shows how progressive and thoughtful people can be. However, one thing i rarely see brought up is people with seeing impairments. In 2013 i was diagnosed with a degenerative eye disease called keratoconus, my vision is incredibly blurry and without special accommodations, i wouldn’t even be able to type this or use the internet at all. I see all the time where people will caption videos for those with hearing impairment which is absolutely amazing, but i don’t see a lot of people even acknowledging those with seeing impairments.
I know that a trend has emerged where you can post on tumblr in cursive font. I know its just fun for people, but I can’t see it all, i can’t read it and i often find myself left out of jokes or memes due to my eyesight. Another example would be those posts where there will be something odd or funny in the picture and people will post it with the caption,”don’t say anything.” Not only does this leave out people who honestly just can’t understand the joke (people with mental illnesses included) but it also leaves out the seeing impaired. I don’t like to make a huge deal out of anything, but i would greatly appreciate seeing more people being accommodating to those with seeing impairments as well.

i don't think people take me too serious when i say i'm legally blind. Like, guys I am legally never allowed to drive, I need assistance with a lot of stuff because I can't see. People both irl and online tend to be like "oh but you're not THAT BAD OFF" it's not a thing of whether my eyes are "that bad off" it doesn't matter, they're still blind. i still use magnifying and screen readers. i'm learning braille because my eyes are getting progressively worse and I'd like to be able to still read.
I may not be totally blind, but that's the thing, a lot of blind people AREN'T Totally blind. Blindness is a spectrum. and i don't think a lot of people realize that. And I'm just as valid in my blindness as someone on the spectrum with better eyesight than me, or someone with worse.
(This is OK to reblog. I hope that sighted people who might read this really get it into their heads that blindness is a spectrum...)
Ahhhhhhhhh this gives me life
[ID: A digitally drawn comic of Toph and Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender talking about Zuko’s scar.
It begins with Toph approaching Zuko, who is sitting near a campfire. “You have a scar?” she asks. Zuko replies, "Oh! Uh, yeah… You didn’t…?“ Toph cuts him off and says, "Came up in passing with the other guys.” Toph casually makes herself a seat out of rock and sits down next to him. “Must be pretty badass if everyone assumes I know it’s there, too,” she continues. Zuko looks aside awkwardly and says, “… It’s on my face.” “Ah.” Toph replies.
Zuko says, “Maybe you could… feel it?” “Huh?” says Toph. “I guess, if I concentrate hard enough.” Zuko reaches for Toph’s hand. “Uhm, just with your hand, if you want,” he says. “I don’t think I can describe it.” “… Gotcha. Guide my hand then, boss,” Toph says. Zuko does so, and there’s a pause as Toph touches his scar. The fire reflects in her eyes.
As Toph pulls her hand away, Zuko says, “…. You know, my left eye is almost blind, too.” “Seriously?!” Toph exclaims. “Why aren’t we a tag team yet?! The blind bandit and the half-blind dweeb!” “Come on…!” Zuko moans. End ID]
id by @strawberrygiorno , thank you!
i’ve had this comic sketched out for months but only decided to finish it now, it’s based on something i drew a couple years back of toph and zuko….don’t think too hard on when or how this takes place because i don’t really know either! it’s just a concept i’ve always wanted to draw
Hey y’all!
I’m about to make a website for an organization I’m creating to help those with hidden/invisible disabilities and illnesses.
I want to be able to make this website accessible for people with all types of conditions and wanted to reach out on here to get any suggestions from people with those types of conditions.
I also created an Instagram for the organization but it’s still in the very early stages so I won’t be sharing yet…
Let me know if you have any suggestions or questions!

The book: Blindness by José Saramago
Would you dare?
If you had no face
Would you still glance at the mirror
In hopes of seeing your feautures
Albeit in a blur?
If you had no eyes
Would you brave looking at the sun
To all but hope
That the blazing fireball can have your blindness undone?
If you had no hair
Would you be bold enough to weild a comb
To hope to know
How It bares its teeth to strands of gold brown and chrome?
If you had no heart
Would you dare to love with your being
Only to hope
To feel at least a little.. At least something?
i want you all to know that there is an artist (carmen papalia) who, after he started using a white cane, assembled a 12 foot long white cane and began using it in downtown vancouver. the length of the cane made it functionally useless as a device and the only purpose it served was making him an obstacle for sighted people. dare i say… 2019 goals
I needed this today
sending love out tonight to everyone who is progressively losing their abilities, whether that's movement, ability to walk, eyesight, or hearing.
it's hard to come to terms with the fact that you can't do things that you used to be able to do. I'll be honest, it feels like you're losing control of your life. it can feel very isolating and hopeless. its scary and overwhelming, and it's so hard to deal with.
you are not less than just because you can do less. im proud of you for still being here, and i wish you ease with adjusting to new ways of life. please take care of yourself, i love you.

This came across my desk this morning in the course of philanthropic research, and it’s a fascinating portrait primarily of the head of a charitable organization that serves his own community (the blind and visually impaired) but also a mixed-message reconstruction of a man who mysteriously bequeathed $125M – fifteen times the charity’s operating budget – to an organization that never knew his name.
